Peak Power, Programmable Output, Remote ON/OFF, Remote Sense and DC OK Signal
The MEAN WELL NSP-1000 Series provides 200% peak power capability, programmable output voltage/current control, remote ON/OFF control, Remote Sense, DC OK signal and communication functions for advanced industrial system integration and dynamic load applications.
For NSP-1000-12, NSP-1000-15, NSP-1000-24, NSP-1000-27, NSP-1000-36, NSP-1000-48 and NSP-1000-60 models, the series supports up to 2000W peak power capability for 5 seconds, enabling stable operation under transient load conditions such as motor startup, capacitive loads, charging systems, supercapacitor applications and inrush current scenarios in high-power equipment.
The built-in remote ON/OFF control function allows external switching of the power supply, making the NSP-1000 Series suitable for systems requiring power sequencing, standby control and centralized power architecture management. Remote Sense, DC OK signal, auxiliary power outputs and CANBus or optional MODBus communication further support system-level monitoring, voltage compensation, operational status feedback and digital power control in industrial, telecom, network and medical equipment.
Peak Power Capability
The NSP-1000 Series supports short-term peak output for all 12V to 60V models. For example, NSP-1000-24 can deliver up to 2000W peak power for 5 seconds, while maintaining 1000.8W rated output power under continuous operation.
This feature is particularly useful for applications with high transient load demands such as industrial automation systems, machinery equipment, telecom infrastructure, PoE power sourcing equipment, charging equipment, supercapacitor systems and other high-power DC systems requiring short-duration overload support.
Peak power operation is subject to duty cycle, input voltage and output voltage adjustment conditions. When the output voltage is adjusted to the upper limit, peak power is limited to 150% of rated power.
Programmable Output Voltage and Current
The NSP-1000 Series supports output voltage programming from 0–120% of nominal output voltage and output current programming from 0–100% of rated current through the control interface.
These programmable functions allow the NSP-1000 Series to be used in charging systems, test equipment, supercapacitor applications, dynamic load systems and equipment designs requiring adjustable voltage or current control. When the PC function is active, Peak Load Mode is disabled and the current limit follows the programmed current setting.
Remote ON/OFF Control
The remote ON/OFF function is controlled through CN2 using R.C and +5V-AUX. According to the NSP-1000 function description, the power supply turns ON when R.C is shorted to +5V-AUX, and turns OFF when the connection is open.
This dry-contact or electrical signal control method allows the NSP-1000 Series to be integrated into external system logic, automation sequencing, standby power management and centralized power control strategies.
Remote Sense and DC OK Signal
The NSP-1000 Series provides Remote Sense and DC OK signal functions for system-level integration. Remote Sense compensates voltage drop on the load wiring up to 0.5Vdc, helping maintain stable voltage at the load side in high-current wiring applications.
The DC OK signal provides output status feedback for control, alarm and protection systems. It can be used by equipment controllers to monitor whether the output voltage is within the expected operating range.
CANBus, MODBus and Control Connector Information
The NSP-1000 Series supports built-in CANBus communication as standard, while MODBus protocol is available by request. Communication functions can be used for control, setting and monitoring, including parameters such as output power and input voltage.
The NSP-1000 Series uses dedicated control interfaces for programmable voltage/current control, Remote Sense, parallel control, remote ON/OFF, DC OK signal, auxiliary power and communication functions. These features simplify integration into industrial equipment, automation systems, telecom devices, network infrastructure, medical equipment, PoE power sourcing systems and scalable high-power architectures.
