Programmable Output, Remote ON/OFF, Remote Sense, DC OK Signal, CANBus and MODBus
The MEAN WELL NSP-2400 Series provides programmable output voltage, programmable output current, remote ON/OFF control, Remote Sense, DC OK signal, 5Vaux and 12Vaux auxiliary power, built-in CANBus communication, optional MODBus protocol and parallel operation support for advanced industrial, medical, telecom, PoE and high-power DC system integration.
For NSP-2400-12, NSP-2400-15, NSP-2400-24, NSP-2400-27, NSP-2400-36, NSP-2400-48 and NSP-2400-60 models, the series supports output voltage programming from 0–120% of nominal output voltage and output current programming from 0–100% of rated current. This allows engineers to adjust voltage and current behavior according to system requirements in industrial automation machinery, test equipment, telecom devices, PoE power sourcing equipment, medical devices, supercapacitor systems and other high-power DC architectures.
The built-in remote ON/OFF control function allows external switching of the power supply, making the NSP-2400 Series suitable for systems requiring power sequencing, standby control, centralized power management and controller-based startup logic. Remote Sense, DC OK signal, auxiliary power outputs, CANBus communication and optional MODBus protocol further support voltage compensation, operational feedback, digital power control and system-level monitoring.
Output Voltage Programming
The NSP-2400 Series supports output voltage programming for all 12V, 15V, 24V, 27V, 36V, 48V and 60V models. Output voltage can be adjusted from 0–120% of nominal output voltage by applying an external control voltage to the PV input according to the function manual.
This function is useful for applications requiring adjustable DC output, voltage tuning, equipment-level power optimization and system-controlled output behavior. For example, NSP-2400-24 can be used in 24V industrial systems requiring programmable voltage adjustment, while NSP-2400-48 and NSP-2400-60 can support higher-voltage DC bus architectures requiring controlled output voltage settings.
For Remote Sense or Local Sense wiring, engineers should follow the function manual and installation guidance to ensure correct voltage feedback and stable output regulation.
Output Current Programming
The NSP-2400 Series also supports output current programming from 0–100% of rated current. This allows the constant current level to be adjusted through the PC input, making the series suitable for controlled current limiting, charging-related systems, test equipment, supercapacitor systems and applications where output current behavior must be managed by external control logic.
This function is especially useful when the power supply is used in systems where load behavior changes during operation, or where the designer needs to define a controlled current ceiling instead of relying only on fixed overload protection behavior.
When the output current programming function is active, engineers should check the overload protection mode and current-limiting behavior in the function manual to ensure the correct operating mode is selected for the application.
Remote ON/OFF Control
The remote ON/OFF function is controlled through the CN2 interface using R.C and +5Vaux. According to the NSP-2400 function description, the power supply turns ON when R.C is shorted to +5Vaux, and turns OFF when the connection is open.
This dry-contact or electrical-signal control method allows the NSP-2400 Series to be integrated into external system logic, automation sequencing, standby power management and centralized power control strategies.
Remote ON/OFF control is useful for equipment designs where the power supply must be started or stopped by a controller, relay, optocoupler control module or system-level power management circuit.
Remote Sense and DC OK Signal
The NSP-2400 Series provides Remote Sense and DC OK signal functions for system-level integration. Remote Sense compensates voltage drop on the load wiring up to 0.5Vdc, helping maintain stable voltage at the load side in high-current wiring applications.
The DC OK signal provides output status feedback for control, alarm and protection systems. According to the function description, the DC OK signal changes state according to output voltage status, allowing equipment controllers to monitor whether the output voltage is within the expected operating range.
These functions are useful for high-current DC power distribution, automation equipment, telecom systems, PoE infrastructure and centralized power cabinets where load-side voltage stability and power status feedback are important.
5Vaux, 12Vaux and Intelligent Fan Control
The NSP-2400 Series provides both 5Vaux and 12Vaux auxiliary power outputs. The 5Vaux output is rated at 0.2A, while the 12Vaux output is rated at 0.8A. These auxiliary outputs can be used for control circuits, monitoring circuits and system-level interface functions where small auxiliary power rails are required.
The series also includes built-in intelligent fan speed control based on the internal temperature of the power supply. This helps balance cooling performance and acoustic noise under different load and ambient temperature conditions.
Together with DC OK signal output, remote ON/OFF control and digital communication, the auxiliary outputs and intelligent fan control make the NSP-2400 Series suitable for intelligent high-power industrial and equipment-level power systems.
CANBus Communication and Optional MODBus Protocol
The NSP-2400 Series includes built-in CANBus communication for control, setting and monitoring functions. CANBus enables the power supply to communicate with external controllers in intelligent industrial power architectures.
For projects requiring MODBus-based integration, MODBus protocol models are available by request. This makes the NSP-2400 Series suitable for automation systems, telecom power systems, PoE infrastructure, medical devices, test platforms and OEM equipment requiring digital power supply monitoring and configuration.
Communication functions can support parameters such as control, setting and monitoring, including power supply operating information. For detailed communication parameters, engineers should refer to the NSP-2400 function manual.
Parallel Operation and Active Current Sharing
The NSP-2400 Series supports built-in active current sharing and parallel operation up to 9600W or 3+1 units. This allows multiple NSP-2400 power supplies to be connected for higher output power, scalable DC power capacity or system-level redundancy planning.
For parallel operation, output wiring should use short and large-diameter conductors, and the difference of output voltages among parallel units should be kept within the specified range. The total output current should also follow the parallel operation calculation and derating guidance in the function manual.
This function is useful for high-current DC power cabinets, centralized power distribution, PoE power sourcing equipment, telecom systems, supercapacitor systems and industrial equipment platforms requiring more than a single 2400W output capacity.
